WELCOME TO THE PLAYFUL WONDERS SUMMER PROGRAM! REGISTRATION FOR THE 2013 SUMMER PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN.
The Playful Wonders Summer Enrichment Program is an exciting and educational place for children ages 2-6. The program is divided into two groups, Fun with Twos and Threes for our younger children and Summer Enrichment for Four to Six year olds. The Program meets at our Pelham facility from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon for Four weeks beginning on June 24th.
FUN WITH TWOS AND THREES
In Fun with Twos and Threes the children are presented with a different educational theme each week, tying in to the same theme that the older children enjoy. Sample themes include Fun at the Seashore, Animals of the Rainforest, The Night Sky and On the Farm.
Arts and Crafts, Music and Rhythms and Stories all center around the weeks theme. The children welcome exciting visitors such as live animals from the Greenburgh Nature Center and weekly visits from Zev Haber, our favorite children's guitarist.
THE SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AGES FOUR - SIX:
In our program for older children the focus is encouraging summer reading. Each day a different story is read that ties into the weekly theme. Based on the daily story the class will then design a craft, act out a story or make a yummy treat. In addition the children are encouraged to take home books from our classroom library. They can then share their stories with the rest of the class the following day.
The children enjoy more advanced science and literature activities that tie back to the week's theme. They engage in hands on experiences and participate in exciting field trips to places like the Hudson River Museum and Planetarium, the Bronx Zoo and the Maritime Center Aquarium in Norwalk, CT.
All of the children enjoy nutritious snacks and plenty of outdoor play, Everyone is encouraged to participate in organized games and activities. Our most important goal is helping children make friends and have fun while they learn.
